Ezekiel Elliott: “We just haven’t played good football. I mean, that’s all it comes down to. Everyone wants to try to find out what’s wrong. I’ll tell you what’s wrong, we just haven’t played good football. We haven’t gone out there and executed as a team.”

Despite having a talented roster, the Cowboys are sitting at 6-6 and are clinging on to a narrow lead over the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC East. Elliott believes that the team is losing games because they haven’t been ‘playing good football’.

If only it were that simple, the Cowboys could probably figure out a way to get out of their rut. But there lopsided defeat to the Buffalo Bills on Thanksgiving is extremely telling.

Leading up to the game, there were many people who thought that Dallas was going to show that they were a legitimate unit by taking down a talented Bills team. Instead, they laid an egg while they lost the game by double-digits.

With the loss, the Cowboys have still been incapable of beating a team with a winning record. Considering that Dallas has Dak Prescott, Ezekiel Elliott, Amari Cooper, and other weapons on offense, they should be able to compete with the best teams in the NFL.

Contrary to belief, a team that should be near the top of the NFC has a chance of missing the playoffs. When a talented team begins to underwhelm as the Cowboys have, the coaching staff has to be brought into question.

Jerry Jones has reiterated that Jason Garrett will keep his job as head coach until the season concludes. But unless the Cowboys make a miraculous run at the Super Bowl, Garrett’s fate seems to be decided.
